Appraisals.... Is it really worth it....

This time I am going to tell you my "APPRAISAL STORY"
Last week my Project manager told me that we will be having discussion regarding my annual appraisals and sent me a meeting request which I missed as I did not got any mail regarding this.
Now as a senior project manager this guy did not even care to talk to me personally for the appraisals meetings and forgot for about 3-4 days.
Now he told me directly to come to his cabin without sending any meeting request and I have to go leaving my pending work behind. Personally I do not care much about appraisals as I know if I perform better then I am bound to get good ratings..
So I entered Manager's Room
MANAGER: SO Mr. How are you?
How are things going on?
Me: Yes sir. Going good.
MANAGER: So we are here for appraisals and as you are new to job we will discuss blah..blah..
Me: (Completely astonished) (Am I new to job. then what I did for past 11 months on this job.
Is it really worth staying in this organisation who considers a guy Fresher after spending 11 months in job). Excuse me sir I am not NEW to job and I spent 11 months in this project.
MANAGER: Oh..OK But you numbers are low.
Me: Because I was involved in many activities and new projects as our Team lead has told you I guess...
MANAGER: Oh...ok.(After going through all competencies and objectives described in the appraisals form.) I am rating you between 2 and 3.
Me: Why sir? I have worked hard to achieve ratings of 4 and I am certified also.
this should add in to my ratings.
MANAGER: yeah but I can not give 4 to all the people. This is not Mathematics paper where most people get scores.
Me: I am not concerned about other people. I have worked hard I should get 4 in ratings (or After u give me between 2 to 3 I will start working like a guy who is having 2-3 rating).
MANAGER: OK..Give me some time I will rethink and put ratings.
Me: OK take your own sweet (and sour) time.
MANAGER: Do you have any issues and concerns..?
Me: No.( I have a lot to say but it is useless to say in front of you cause you are a dumb ass)
MANAGER: Your areas of improvement is your communication as you do not talk to your fellows much.
Me: Sir I avoid useless talking and gossips. (Do you know what is the meaning of stupendous. you your self has a rating of "ZERO" in communication according to me and asking me to improvement.)
MANAGER: Laughing OK..Will cal you when I will be doing final appraisals
Me: OK (Oh.. This is Semi final...hehehehe)
Me: Bye for now and I will be sending you the project updates.)
MANAGER: Bye.
This was what is called my appraisal discussions.
Some facts:
- I am not new to job I have spent 11 months in the organisation.
- Managers want to retain people and want people o obey orders.
- All managers have 3 P's.People, Process and Problems.
- All managers will ask their to improve communication no matter how good he or she is.
- Rating is directly proportional to the hike that one will get.
- Hike is directly proportional to how good is your relationship to managers.
Rest is going OK.
